How to Cut Your Kids Hair to have a Caesar Cut
Considering the ease of the cut and the simplicity of its upkeep, it’s no wonder that so many hail the Caesar Cut. Named after Julius Caesar, it is a short-to-medium straight cut that is usually layered from one to three inches in length.
What you will need:
- Wahl clipper
- Wahl trimmer
How to Do a Kids Caesar Haircut Step-by-Step
Dampen the hair with the spray bottle. Comb the hair down so it is lying straight.
Select your Wahl clipper’s appropriate attachment guard for the desired length. Start in front of the right ear and cut the hair at the back of the neck, under the rim of the head and the rim of the head. Be sure to cut the hair at the nape of the neck.
(Refer to our Sections of the Head page for more.)
Blend the hair from the rim of the head to the top of the head (sections 3 and 4) by moving the clipper straight up.
To cut the hair on the top of the head, hold the hair straight up and use the technique that you are most comfortable with, such as clipper-over-fingers to shorten the hair. Cut the top of the head from front to back but don’t cut the bangs yet.
When you complete the top of the head section, then comb the bangs down and trim them so they are even and straight across the head.

Using a Comb as a Guide
With the bristles of the comb up, comb the hair upward from the back or toward you from the front, and stop before the hair leaves the comb.
Run the clipper across the comb to cut the hair to the desired length.
